Ciprofloxacin
Indication:Ciprofloxacin
is used in adults for the treatment of urinary tract infections,
lowerrespiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections,
bone and joint infections and G.I. infections, caused by susceptible
gram-negative and gram-positive aerobic bacteria. It is also used
for the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhoeae caused by penicillinase
and non. penicillinase producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae

CONTRAINDICATION
AND PRECAUTON: It is contraindicated
to the patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin
or to other quinolones. It should be used with caution to patients
with suspected or known CNS disorders such as arteriosclerosis
or epilepsy or other factors which predispose to seizures and
convulsion.
SIDE EFFECT:
Adverse effects include nausea, and other gastrointestinal disturbances,
headache, dizziness and skin rashers. Crystalluria has occurred
with high doses.
DRUG INTERACTION:
Ciprofloxacin tablets should not
be administered within 4 hours of medications, containing magnesium,
aluminum or iron salts as interference with absorption may occur.
Increased plasma levels of theophylline have been observed following
concurrent administration with ciprofloxacin. Prolongation of
bleeding time has been reported during concurrent administration
of ciprofloxacin and anticoagulants.
